Although it's geared more for younger players, Pokémon Snap is good clean fun for Pokémon fans of any age. In this Pokémon battle-free adventure, players assist Professor Oak in completing his Pokémon Report by photographing the cute little buggers in the wild on Pokémon Island. Players take a trolley-like ride through the island's 3-D environments, filled with Pokémon that not only look just like they do in the cartoons, but also have "cries" to match. While there's a limited amount of film for each trip and no zoom lens, players enjoy great freedom of directional movement from within the vehicle, thanks to solid controls.Pokémon Snap isn't as easy as it looks, as not just any old picture will satisfy Professor Oak; submissions for his Pokémon Report are judged on size, pose, technique, and whether or not there's more than one of the same Pokémon in the picture. As progress is made, new areas open up, and players are given items to aid them in their quest. Although there are only seven areas, they need to be revisited often, as hidden and otherwise uncooperative Pokémon must be "coaxed" by using items that you previously didn't have before. Though it looks like a toy, don't be fooled: the Nintendo GameCube is a powerful video game console that rightly deserves its place among the other next-generation game systems. In fact, its playful, appealing design and small size (the unit is a not-quite-cubed 6 inches) aren't the only features that set it apart from the others.For starters, Nintendo has quite clearly made this a game-only machine. It doesn't try to play your CD collection, run your movies, read your e-mail, or store your MP3 files. The company has concentrated its efforts on games. All the prelaunch titles we've seen play smoothly, with bright, fast graphics and great sound. Nintendo says its engineers have removed traditional bottlenecks that have, in the past, slowed down processing. New components designed by IBM and MoSys, as well as a large-capacity secondary memory cache, keep instructions moving through the system's microprocessor (MPU) at peak levels. In English: the GameCube is optimized to push speed up while pushing costs down; hence its position at the lower end of the price spectrum.
The GameCube is the first Nintendo video game system to use a disc-based medium rather than cartridges for its games. Moving the software to disc media generally means lower development costs for the publishers, which, in turn, trickles down to the consumer not only in price, but also in availability and quality, as it's then easier to try out untested game ideas (Pikmin, anyone?). While most other systems likewise have their games stored on discs, the GameCube's 3-inch format is smaller than everyone else's, and is so designed to fit in a shirt pocket as much as to deter would-be software pirates.
Of course, the main advantage of the GameCube is that it's the home field of one of the world's premier game designers: Nintendo. While powerhouses Electronic Arts and Sega make games for all systems (including this one), you can play Nintendo games only on a Nintendo system. And Nintendo, you might recall, has been hitting them out of the park since it started with Donkey Kong. In fact, here's a roll call of characters and series you won't find on the other consoles: Mario, Legend of Zelda, Perfect Dark, Metroid, Kirby, and, of course, Pokémon. A few names that the GameCube will share with the other guys: Madden, Tony Hawk, Sonic, Batman, and Star Wars.
The system also comes with four built-in controller ports, so you can easily plug in extra controllers and let friends join in for the multiplayer games--it's even got a built-in handle so you can easily move it to a friend's house. It comes with two memory card slots for saving your progress through games, and there's the capacity for future expansion into the world of online gaming.
In short, the GameCube isn't an all-in-one entertainment system, and neither is it the most powerful of the modern video game consoles. But for video game enthusiasts who want to stick with their favorite characters, its value cannot be beat. --Porter B. Hall

The successor to the P90 has now come in the form of COOLPIX P100 and Nikon have tried to resolve some of the areas where the former machine was found missing. Externally, you probably will not notice that much has changed: dimensions (114 x 83 x 99 mm) and weight (approximately 481 g) of the P100 is almost identical to its predecessor.

Samsung-N350
With its glossy an outer shell, the N350 is very similar to the netbook we reviewed Samsung's N230 a few months ago. They are both 10.1-inch models, but the big difference is that this new model has one of Intel's new dual-core Atom Processors marketing plan away from the inside.
Samsung has done a great job in making the N350 as portable as possible. Although it has the same width (264 mm) and depth (188 mm) which N230, it is a little fair thinner, in just 23 mm compared with N230 's 34 mm. 1 kg, it is also about 200 g lighter. The end result is a very compact and portable netbook. However, there is a good reason for its lightweight nature: a smaller than average battery. We will talk more about this in a moment.
The flip open the lid and you are greeted by 10.1-inch display. The screen has a netbook-standard resolution of 1024 x 768, but it differs from the majority, it lacks a glossy coating. While the glossy displays make movies and photos look more vibrant, attract the also reflections just as there is no tomorrow. This matte screen, on the other hand, keeps the reflections to a minimum and makes outdoor use possible. The view is further helped by being ridiculously light. Powering N350 is Intel's Atom N550 processor. This is a running on 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU, and thanks to the support for Hyper-Threading, Windows sees it as a quad-core chip. However, as with all netbooks running Windows 7 starter, Samsung could only deliver processor with 1 GB of memory. N350 feels a little more active compared to single core netbooks, but it is not a massive leap in performance. We saw still these small-but-frustrating delays when you perform relatively simple tasks.
Graphics are handled by the integrated Intel GMA 3150 chipset. This has a clock speed just 200 MHz, and as with all netbooks that rely on the integrated graphics, it means N350 does not match the gaming.
Other specifications include a 250 GB hard drive which tick marks along at 5, 400 rpm, and integrated webcam. Is Also built in 802 .11n wireless, 10/100 LAN and Bluetooth. Samsung found, not surprisingly, the space in the budget to match, a 3 G module, so that mobile broadband requires the use of a separate USB dongle.
Samsung knows a thing or two when it comes to creating netbook keyboards, and whether the N350 is great to write on. Its chiclet-style design is comfortable and the keys have just the right amount of feedback. It also Feels solid with minimal bøjebevægelser, and there are no unpleasant clacking sounds when you type. Samsung had made good use of the space available, stretch your keyboard across almost the entire width of the chassis. Some of the keys to the right edge has been slightly reduced in size, but it is not a massive problem.
The trackpad has a good texture and is comfortable to use, but the two buttons located below are very thin and has a little too much travel. When you press them during testing, bashed we often our thumbs against the edge of the casing.
Samsung includes a three-cell battery with 2950mAh N350 classified with just 33Wh. Dual-core atom chip is one of the main reasons for the high price, but it is really not getting much of the performance boost from the. Samsung's N230 is ultimately a better offer. It has the same great design, dual-battery, and the performance of its single-core processor is not far from that of the dual-core model on this N350.

Apple-Munch 5-a-day, Sleep Talk Recorder, Momento, IMBd, Appshopper, Rage HD
This month we have to eat, sleep, writing, watching, shopping, and kill the zombies. Well, can man live by bread alone ...
We have tried to increase our fruit and veg intake with Munch 5-a-day (0.59 p), a simple food tracker, which lets you record when you give your body the needs, rather than the selvbetjeningsregelsæt.
Could not be simpler, really. Set your goals-between 1 and 12 (the British Government in recommends five a day, hence the name) and leave the app is running. Each time you eat a piece of fruit or veg, simply click on the appropriate icon to add it to your total (accompanied-natch-meet the experience the sounds).

In the meantime, in search of some good shut-eye, we have been experimenting with Sleep Talk Recorder (0.59 p)-a fascinating little app that detects you while you sleep.
The trick is that the app is set to record only when it picks up sounds above a certain volume, and be able to turn off and disable itself in milliseconds-so instead of you wade through hours of useless silence, trying to find some phonetic action, it highlights only moments in the night when you make real noise. So ignore the occasional rustling as you scroll over and pull the covers the benefit for the retrieval of snorts and barks, snores and unconscious guffaws that characterizes itself a good night's sleep.

Since the Christmas holidays usually serve a banquet of dubious TV treats we have in planning our movie shown with the iPhone version of the Internet favorite, IMDb (free).
Sure, there are thousands of trailers on YouTube and other online sources, but nothing can match the naked film geekery of IMDb with his encyclopedic knowledge of movies past and present, famous and obscure-whether the busting box office records, or limping off the unheralded, straight to the video.
IMDb iPhone app gives you access to all cinematographic goodness IMDb has to offer including cast lists, production information, promotional material, such as still pictures and trailers, filmographies all those involved-and because it is all linked, it is a great way to find more good things from the people you like and avoid Drosses from people you don't.
By all means keep your TV Guide, but with this on your iPhone you are more likely to spend a few hours meets in the presence of Robert De Niro and Taxi Driver, rather than Barry Evans and Adventures of a Taxi Driver.

Remember how much we enjoyed THE ID software games in the past, we have re-visiting our youth by playing a few rounds of Rage HD (£ 1.19), a first-person shooter in the old-fashioned sense: there is no strategy, just lots of running in confined spaces and plenty of bloodthirsty enemies to destroy.
Graphically, the game's a hoot. Very smooth, and when you got the hang, control nice and responsive also (it takes a while, a bit like when the shooter first introduced the idea that you could look up and down).
' plot ' is pure futuristic flannel. You. mutants. Bebølsesejendomme. Abandoned asylum. Guns. Rewards. Where Rage has attracted criticism is only to give three levels (even though each has different levels of difficulty), and for what has become known as an ' on-rails ' games-in other words, your character follows a pre-determined path through the game, rather than given free rein to wander around. This certainly changes the nature of the game and makes it more about precision (killing enemies, collecting supplies, win bonuses) than fast reactions and improvisation. Still, for this price you can afford to make up your own opinion.

Windows phone 7 is available on a number of smartpones-some of them, like the HTC 7 Trophy, exclusive to a single network. Don't be fooled into believing that HTC 7 Trophy relatively low contract price-it is available for free with Vodafone tariffs over £ 25 a month-means it has under-featured. Its 1 GHz processor and 8 GB of built-in storage, you must put it on an equal footing with most of the other Windows phone 7 devices that are currently available.
The phone offers improved 3 G, HDSPA connection support downloads at up to 2Mbps and transfers to 7.2Mbps. Running Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g and n. GPS and Bluetooth is both current and Bing Maps gives you access to the route calculation services. As smartphones go, it is all here, really.

There is a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, and mandatory high-end capacity with shooting 720 p video. The camera is acceptable, rather than wonderful, but it shares the ability for other Windows phone 7 device must be run from the ' locked ' mode via a single press of the button camera page.
One big downside of Windows phone 7 is the absence of any desktop sync for contacts and calendar. The Zune desktop software synchronises music, photos and podcasts, but not the calendar, and contacts, which are to be synchronized over the air. You must use a live account, and get 25 GB of Web storage, automatic uploading of photos and more-but these are no replacement for desktop Outlook sync. In everyday use, HTC 7 Trophy features well. Its major release 3-inch screen has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. When web browsing, the pain to the zoom function is very useful, and the on screen keyboard is very responsive to type out text messages and mobile e-mail. The processor has coped with everything we threw at it, and the software market has begun to bulk edit out nicely with programs.
We are not yet convinced that Windows phone 7 has what it takes to get an edge on Android, iOS and RIMS BlackBerry operating system. But Microsoft intended are working hard on it and HTC 7 Trophy displays the to good effect.

Nokia-C7
Nokia C7 is one of a rare group of handsets currently available, running the new touch-friendly Symbian ^ 3 operating system. There will be more handsets, as time passes, but currently, the operating system is to find his feet-and Nokia learning, if we like it or not.
C7 is a good specified mobile phone. It has an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and a real rarity these days – a front-facing camera for two-way video calls. There is Wi-Fi support in the form of 802 .11b, g, and n, as well as GPS. Also, there is a generous 8 GB of built-in memory, which means that you can push a lot of data on the handset before you have to add a microSD card. It is good news, especially as the microSD slot is housed underneath the battery, make it difficult to get to.

C7 is a touchscreen handset with a monitor that measures a generous 3.7 inches. The screen uses the AMOLED technology making it sharp and bright-although its decision at 360 x 640 pixels, not the best. It really has not enough width to offer a good QWERTY keypad when the screen is in landscape mode, so instead you get an alphanumeric. QWERTY is offered in landscape mode, however, and capacitive screen is responsive in both directions.
Nokia's cases are mainly plastics-even if it has a metal backplate, which lends an air of strength and solidity to the handset.
Is a single menu button, as well as the keys call and than under the screen. 3.5 mm headphone jack located on the top edge where it should be, while the USB port is also here, which is the power button. Is button camera shortcut, a lock switch, volume rocker and control voice key on the right side. The charging connector is the left edge. ViewSonic ViewPad-10
Say what you will about the Apple iPad tablet computer, it certainly has livened up the market for your computer. Each manufacturer would seem to be falling over themselves to hang onto Apple's coat tails and the resulting mess of design, operating systems, hardware specifications, and prices will be thoroughly confusing for consumers. Is it a phone? It is a PC? Is the feed for next year's boot car sales? While it is entertaining to see if you're one of these brave souls spending real money on these products, it helps to have a bit of friendly advice.
ViewSonic has jumped in with two tablet devices-a 7in mega-based Android smartphone 2.2 (Froyo) and dual 10in boot tablet without phone capabilities peer here. This comes with the latest Windows 7 Home Premium OS installed-but in Android page that you are attached with the rather long-in-the-tooth-version 1.6. Both run from a 16 GB solid-state disk (SSD).

In the box provided ViewPad 10 with a charger to 3200mAh li-polymer battery plus two CDs containing the drivers and user's Guide. A quick start poster explains the basic features such as three hardware buttons next to the screen but confusing, who also talks about the 3 G mobile connectivity, which is not enabled in this model (despite the have a 3 G SIM slot at the top). It has 150 Mbps 802 .11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, though.
ViewPad 10 is pretty comprehensive, with its 14.5 mm thickness accommodating twin USB ports, headphones, a Mini-VGA port, microSD card slot and power connector at one end of the device. It is approximately 150 g heavier than the iPad, which makes it less comfortable to hold for long periods.
Brushed aluminum back of the device are classic, but the loud creaks our sample, when we held it near the end with ports something spoiled the quality feel. There is a cooling vent on the back, plus the ventilation ducts to the two tiny speakers. There is another vent on the top edge to the fan, radiator, 1.66 GHz Intel Atom CPU N455-it is definitely noticeable, but not too annoying.
Power, home page and Enter buttons are located next to the screen with three small blue status LEDs above it. Android started in 17 seconds, and even Windows took only 36 seconds to load from the cold. Of two Android provides by far the best touch screen user experience, with a huge keyboard and snappy response. But it still believe it is a small phone, so that the menus are huge and you tend to get stuck together with the mobile versions of Web sites.
The coolest app is Aldiko e-book reader, even though the screen 16: 9 aspect ratio does not work well for books. Others, such as the camera (ViewPad 10 includes a front-facing 1.3 megapixel model) and web TV apps, not take advantage of the screen resolution, either, to make them pretty pointless.
You will not have access to Google's Android market, only a third-party App Store with a rather uninspiring collection of apps. E-mail and web browsing in General, you should work well, even though there is no Flash support-annoying, because this is one of the leading reasons to choose an Android device to more than one running Apple's iOS 4. You cannot access files on the Windows partition when running Android, so any shared files must be stored on a microSD card (not supplied).
Windows 7 is a different kettle of fish. The problem is that its touch features, while good, is the timing for a keyboard-centric OS, and is better suited for stylus use-making it fiddly to use with your fingers on the screen as small as this. You get used to it after a while, but it is always a little hit-and-miss. The on screen keyboard is in order, but forget about handwriting recognition, unless you have a particularly pointy finger. The major attractions are, of course, knowledge, and that you can connect a USB device, and run any Windows program, which matches the hardware specifications. But with only around 3 GB of free space on the SSD, soon to be you to resort to a microSD card for file storage.
Video performance not stellar, but 720 p HD picture clip looping gave us the 2.5 hours of battery life. Screen 1024 at 600 is bright, and viewing angles are not too bad from the pages or at the top, but the show from the bottom up on more than about 45 degrees from the vertical (with the device flat on a desk in front of you, for example) is nigh-on impossible, due to the fact that the busiest in the brightness and contrast. Of course, you can get round this by turning things upside down, but it is still an irritation. The aspect ratio, also makes the most of the apps look rather odd in portrait mode.
We are not overly impressed ViewPad 10. Not so much because of hardware which is decent, if not outstanding-but because Windows 7 in touch mode on a small monitor is a great disappointment. We were surprised to find the Android experience much more compelling, in spite of its limitations. With a more Tablet PC-oriented version of Android, ViewPad 10 can be a different story entirely. But now to this price will fight to attract buyers away from iPad.

Sanyo Xacti VPC-GH-1
Sanyos latest collection of ' double ' cameras (, able to take both still photos and videos) have developed, like the mini pistols, with developers concentrate on making them ultrathin (like VPC-CS 1) and even waterproof (like VPC-APPROXIMATELY 100). At the same time, it has also produced a number of more traditional box "-style video cameras that still hold most of the features in their slimmer brothers and VPC-GH 1 is the current flagship model.
What you immediately about VPC-GH 1 is how incredibly light strikes it feels (it weighs a mere 172 g with battery and THE SD card is inserted) and how it fits in the Palm of your hand the opening page. It looks certainly attractive with its brushed silver casing but unfortunately, it also feels quite fragile-battery case, for example, carried out by the same kind of wafer-thin plastic you can find on the back of many smartphones.
Sanyo has, of course, twigged that owners of VPC-GH 1 might want to operate the camera in either wrist up ' or ' wrist down position so they have to admit integrated two sets of record buttons-one on the top near the lens, and the other in the more traditional place around the back. The idea is that you have immediate access to either still or video shooting, with the relevant information is displayed at the same time in 2 .7-inch, 230,000-pixel LCD.

This is all great in theory, but Sanyo has done some odd choices in the types of button it has selected for this operation. The front set is small and recessed, which makes it particularly difficult for setting the focus for still images without accidental firing off the shot. The rear of the set, on the other hand, are long, thin and projecting and feel the PIN under the thumb. Also suffer a still photo capture a perennial problem with Xacti dual cameras, as the lag time, both while you focus, and after you have pressed the shutter-under which the screen just goes black.
The good news is that you have full HD (1920 x 1080) video recording and up to 14 M photos, with a 5 x optical zoom and 12 x dual range (digital) zoom. We found that the digital zoom produced hazy results at the upper end, but the optical zoom work smoothly and efficiently. We used flash (only three options-auto, forced off) to the head shot in both Night Portrait and portrait and it adds a strong yellow cast to the pictures. Ironically, with Flash off succeeded very authentic and clear portraits.
VPC-GH 1 have digital image stabilization is built and includes ' Face Chaser ' technology, which recognises up to 12 faces, and adjusts the setting, therefore, the best results. Other gizmos include ' target a Colour» and a cosmetic filter, but the battery level is disappointing-you will be lucky to get one hour worth of video shoot in an American vote before the pipes and tells you it is time to recharge.

Edifier-USB Soundbar
Laptop computers are not known for having excellent speakers. This can be a pain if you want to do things like to listen to music while you use your computer or deliver presentations to other directly from it in a working situation. Not surprisingly, there are plenty of third-party-speaker set designed to give the sound quality you want.
Edifier Soundbar is a relatively low cost and easy to use option. It is very portable and comes with its own DrawString carrying case to help you easily batteries it around.
Edifier is pretty nicely designed, becomes a triangular tubes reminiscent of a certain Swiss chocolate bar whose name we do not mention. Its brushed aluminium silver and black color scheme should look fine with most laptops.
Soundbar measures 261x36x44mm, and its shape, it usually means fits into the villain of the piece that is created between the lid and the base section when a laptop opened, so it does not need any desktop space of its own.

Edifier Soundbar is powered by the same mini-USB cable is used to take music from YOUR PC, so you need only a single cable to connect it. It also comes with a AUX cable, however, to make it possible to connect external devices such as an iPod or something with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. These two slots to sit at one end of the Edifier Soundbar.
On the other end is the volume. We really like you this works. You press it for awhile and volume falls, press it repeatedly and volume increases. We find the system fiddly and would have preferred a wheel roller or slider.
Edifier Soundbar is pure plug and play, and it takes seconds to install and start pushing the sound through.
But what is really important is the quality of the speakers. Soundbar has a bass reflector port in the Centre of the device, and stereo speakers on the left and right. The bass port effect is noticeable, but not essential. If you really like your bass can then Edifier Soundbar cannot provide for you. The volume is fairly high, but not as high as we would have liked. There is at least no distortion at higher volume levels. The effect is pretty good stereo, with good, rounded sound.
Audio output was certainly better than we normally get from our laptops, but nowhere near as good as we enjoy from our current desktop PC with its five speakers attached. But it is not surprising, really.
Overall, the Edifier Soundbar good enough to let you enjoy a movie or to make a presentation to a small group. But neither the volume or the quality is high enough to play sounds to a group for leisure purposes – at a party, for example.
Edifier Soundbar is a very portable external loudspeaker, easy to configure, and it will produce better audio quality than the internal speakers of many portable computers. We would have preferred the connection to be micro-USB rather than the mini-USB and we found the volume a little difficult. Overall, however, is not a bad little speaker.
