Which gaming console should you buy?

Which console to buy has becoming increasingly more complex? It's now not simply a case of picking the one with the top games or the next generation console/upgrade of the one you already have. The main consoles to choose from are the PSP3, Wii and the Xbox 360.

If you read my Wii review it describes this console as the most ground breaking when it was first released changing the course of gaming for years to come and spawned the newer controllers from its competitors. Since this original review Nintedo have improved its original Wii Remote, with the MotionPlus for an improved/increased accuracy. The Wii is great value if the type of games and controller appeal to you, a very good alternative to the other power-strong consoles.

If high grade graphics is what you're after, you should be looking at the Xbox 360 or the PS3. The PS3 specification boasts the best console graphically and is free to play online. The unit also doubles as a Blu-ray player and the PlayStation Move controller gives a wireless experience similar, if not better than the Wii MotionPlus.

The Xbox 360, on the other hand have a system called Xbox Live for online use, which does unfortunately come at a cost financially (but it is very reputable). The most interesting feature is its newest form of its controller, which is something a little different called 'Kinect', a controller less system that allows the users' body movements and speech to directly interact with games, like spinning a roulette wheel in a casino. A highly ambitious project leaving us in intense anticipation of its final results.

An in depth comparison can be seen in my console comparison review.

Sony PlayStation Moves review

09 August 2010 launch price of £ 135 games there not yet, but the move ultra takes motion gaming to a new level and has a enormous potential pros more precise motion sensor games system yet. Very fast and agile. Augmented reality works well.ConsVery few games attractive at the moment. Motion controller buttons a little small and fiddly.

When Nintendo's Wii Express train arrived in an aside in November 2006, he was widely ridiculed as a misfit game crazy because gamers paying public ridicule of ' active ' games and break its doors to the patio of my trial?

But it was, of course, another stroke of genius prescient Nintendo. so much so that Microsoft and Sony have, well, stolen idea and developed the most advanced systems for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Kinect for the Xbox 360 will arrive in November 2010, but firstly to the feast is the move from PlayStation.

' Inspired ' by Wii
Unlike Kinect, which is a controller-less system that uses a 3D camera to track and map their movements, move follows lead Wii motion sensitive controllers using replicate their actions on the screen.

The centerpiece of the system is the motion controller and its shiny sphere. You also need a PlayStation Eye (an extra £ 25) and, for some games, the navigation controller (another £ 25), which keeps your other hand to provide more control in first person shooters like SOCOM 4.

Eye on the ball
Upload a game compatible and the eye will control the colored ball motion controller – whose skilfully LED changes to the color that stands out the most in your room – in three dimensions in millimeters.

This combines with comments from magnetometer the motion controller and accelerometers to replicate their movements on the screen with accuracy rout of the Wii.

In action, it works almost flawlessly. Even in our testing dark room the eye had no problem our control controller, and is certainly the fastest and most precise motion sensor games system we used so far.

Control tweak
Complaints? while the motion controller is comfortable in the hand the trigger very affordable, we find the other buttons a bit too small and fiddly to press.

And while the PS3 can support up to four motion controllers for multiplayer action, only three of them can be used in conjunction with a navigation controller because the PS3 can only support up to seven Bluetooth devices at the same time he is no catastrophe, but may limit the number of four player games available for moving.

Increasing reality
The motion controller can be bright trademark of motion, but the eye is your secret weapon is not as advanced as Kinect 3D mapping camera, but is a big step up from the Wii sensor bar and more than just controlling your controller. Its 640 x 480, 60 fps video feed can be displayed in the games, although this may look grainy if your room is gloomy.

Revision continues after the break ...

More impressive, ' augmented reality ' software can overlay graphics – for example, changing your controller in a giant sword. Sony also has demoed motion control of upper body using two controllers to move and face control techniques. With so few games available, these features are currently little more than tricks demo, but the potential is huge.

Shortage of games
The lack of games is, as expected for the new platform, an issue to move. There are only three launch titles dedicated-Start The Party, sports Champions and Kung Fu Rider-nine more playable demos (if you buy the £ 50 Starter Pack, which includes the eye and a motion controller).

Champions sports and start the party are fun and engrossing. the latter, a collection of mini-games, really shows the exact path and brings limited ' augmented reality ' by mapping 3D objects in a video of you Flail your arms around.

But they are ultimately cheap knock-offs of Wii Sports and Warioware. the best of games is The Shoot, but moves certainly still doesn't have anything like Super Mario Galaxy 2 in your hands.

Promising future

That everything will change very soon. current Games like Tiger Woods 2011 will be given to support moving patches, so you need only download a game update for swinging your virtual Golf Club.

Later, in 2010, the first big titles will arrive in the form of moving Edition 4, Echocrome, SOCOM II of Heavy Rain, a pain move Edition, Sly Collection and LittleBigPlanet 2. Gran Turismo also will screech for the city, with its ability to let the eye to control your head and adjusting point of view depending on where you look.

And 2011 will bring the long-awaited Killzone 3, heroes in motion and witchcraft, Harry Potter-esque that changes the color of the hint of motion controller to show that spell you can converted, among other tricks.

Time to move?
Thus, PlayStation Moves is certainly an investment for the future – but you should buy now? despite the lack of games, to the current owners of PS3 is a no brainer. Since the first games and demos that we saw, move will be an important part of the future of the PlayStation, so it's worth with the practice in now.

Also there is very little difference between the price movement and Kinect. Microsoft System will cost £ 130 when it is released in November 2010, while £ 135 will move Starter Pack (Eye, motion controller, demo disk), plus one spare motion controller and two navigation controllers.

With voice control and gesture of Kinect potentially providing a different experience of motion sensor, there may be some justification to achieve both. one thing is certain – it's time your breakables bubblewrap and prepare your salon for a feast of next-gen games movement.
